Easy Guide to Using the EatSmart Nutrition Scale
Below is a step by step guide to using the EatSmart Nutrition Scale. Remember, feel free to contact us at any time here with additional questions or comments.1. Identify the Proper Mode For the Desired Food
Remember, your EatSmart Nutrition Scale has two modes of operation. You can switch between them by pressing the "MODE" button on the scales left keypad.
b) Calculate Mode - Used for pre-packaged or processed foods which have nutrition information available (typically a USDA approved nutrition facts label on the packaging).
Once you have identified desired mode, turn your scale on and allow it to register "0". If the scale isn't in "Normal Mode" swith to it by pressing the "MODE" button on the left keypad. Place the portion of food on the scale you want to weigh. Follow either step two or three below as appropriate.
2. Using Normal Mode
With your food on the scale, locate the three digit code for your food in your EatSmart Food Facts Book (seen at right). Enter the code on the keypad. This code tells the scale which food is being weighed and looks up the approrpiate nutrition information.
Now displayed in the three bottom boxes of your scale are nutrients for that portion of food. Toggle through all twelve nutrients by pressing the "1/2/3/4" button on the left keypad.
3. Using Calculate Mode
With your food on the scale, press the "SERV" button on the upper side of the left keypad. Then input the serving size from the nutrition facts label (this must be in grams!).
Now press the "NUTR" button. Input the desired nutrient which you would like to calculate from the nutrition facts label . If you are diabetics this is most likely carbs; for weight loss calories.
Press the "=" button and the scale will tell you exactly how much of nutrient you have on the scale.
** NOTE - If you want to eliminate the weight of a plate or bowl, place on scale and press the "On/Off/Tare" button. The weight should register "0".
4. Track your Consumption
